A year following the death of Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, his estate has been put on the market for a $41.5 million price tag. The mansion is more than 10 times the size of the average American house. It is set on two acres in Silicon Valley.
Some of the estate’s notable neighbors include Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google parent Alphabet, and Meg Whitman, the former CEO of HP. The median home value in Atheron is $6 million. That is more than four times the median value in San Francisco.
The 21,000 square foot mansion has seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. It was bought as a newly built home in 2013 for $27 million. It features an open concept layout with white walls and blonde wood. The kitchen has two marble-topped islands as well as floor to ceiling windows overlooking the yard.
On the more exciting side, there is a movie theater, gym, home office, and an outdoor dining area with a wood-fired pizza oven. There is a pool as well as two outdoor fireplaces. There is parking for about two dozen cars.
Allen’s net worth was approximately $20 billion when he passed away from cancer in 2018. He owned the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers and the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. He also was an avid investor in aerospace, filmmaking and real estate.
